Mayuyu từ thế hệ thứ 3, gia nhập AKB với ườc mơ trở thành Center, khác với Acchan từ thế hệ 1 và Yuko từ thế hệ 2, những người trở thành Idol để lấy nó làm bước đệm, thực hiện ước mơ riêng của bản thân: trở thành diễn viên. Chính vì cách suy nghĩ khác biệt của cô ấy như thế, tuy rằng cô ấy đã ở trong nhóm một thời gian thật dài, cô ấy vẫn được gọi là "Người tiên phong của thế hệ trẻ". Kể từ khi được hạng 2, Mayu đã đặt ra một nhiệm vụ căng thẳng cho bản thân.
"Vượt qua 100 điểm yếu trong 1 năm".
Để chuẩn bị cho cuốn photobook mới nhất, cô đã thử thách bản thân bằng những môn thể thao, điều mà cô ấy đã tránh né những năm qua. Cô ấy từng là một chú "vịt cạn", không biết bơi, nhưng chỉ sau 2 giờ tập luyện, cô ấy đã bơi được khoảng 5m. Cô ấy cũng thử môn chạy vượt chướng ngại và cả bóng rổ nữa. Đối với thức ăn cũng vậy.
